Common Responsibilities of a HOA

  • Upkeep and maintenance of the common areas and the enforcement of the CC&Rs of the association.
  • Maintain the common area and implement new improvements such as amenities, adding to the overall value of the entire association. This requires a maintenance fee (association dues) to be charged on a regular basis. This maintenance fee is used by the association according to an established budget that is planned annually. The cost of the fee ranges widely by the size and type of community involved.
  • Elect board members assigned to review and approve budgets and changes to the CC&Rs. Board members usually meet for a public meeting once per month.
